Helping you to feel better through your pregnancy
By easing tensions and strains, we can help your body to adapt to the physical demands of pregnancy and labour.
Osteopathy gently releases tension in the body, so that you can feel more comfortable. It’s about treating the whole person rather than just the condition, so we’ll look for the underlying issues and identify exactly what’s causing the trouble.
We recognise that as well as being a time of great excitement, pregnancy is a very physical experience. As your body changes, we can help you to stay comfortable. As your baby grows, your ligaments soften, your weight increases, and your posture changes. This can lead to additional pressure on joints in various parts of the body, including your spine and pelvis.
Pregnancy can also cause general aches and pains including joint and back pain. Our objective is to improve your quality of life, allowing you to enjoy your pregnancy.
How we work together
Book an appointment
Share your experience and feel heard
Get started on your own customised treatment plan
Your first appointment starts with a ‘listening session’, so that we can really get to know about your situation and what you’re dealing with. As well as hearing about the problem that you’ve come in with, we’ll want to know about other factors that help to build up the picture of you and your pregnancy so far.
Once we have all this information, we’ll make a physical assessment to understand how your body is working – whether there are any restrictions or tensions, or pain produced when you move in a particular way.
Osteopaths are trained to screen for medical conditions and we’ll tell you if we think you need to see another health professional such as your doctor or midwife.
Osteopathic treatment uses a range of gentle hands on techniques to encourage your body to release tension, reduce inflammation, and increase mobility. We’ll begin treatment in your first session and may suggest exercises and homework as part of your treatment plan.
Our aim is to have you feeling better again as soon as possible, so that you can focus on enjoying your pregnancy.
